Tony Tickle - Demonstration of styling hawthorns, 13.9.2010
Tony described in detail how he had styled the first tree and we were then able to look at the tree up close.
The trunk was intricately carved.
A talk on three hawthorns, illustrated with slides, and the trees as they are today.
The second hawthorn was pruned back very severely and then allowed to grow before being pruned and styled again. The finished tree was very impressive, with a heavy trunk.
The third tree didn't look much in the first slide, but it was re-potted at a new angle as a semi-cascade. The following winter it was heavily wired and, eventually, it was styled as a full cascade.
